Food Security: Nigerian Government moves to complete ongoing dam projects to boost irrigation farming

As part of ongoing efforts at making food available and affordable for Nigerian consumers, the Federal Government has assured of the completion of ongoing dam projects across the West African country.

ConsumerConnect learnt Prof. Joseph Utsev, Honourable Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, who stated this in Ile-Ife, Osun State, during his recent tour of water projects in the South-West region of Nigeria, affirmed the dam projects would be completed to scale up irrigation farming and achieve food security.

Prof. Utsev disclosed he led a team of Technical Directors from the Ministry to assess the progress of the Ile-Ife Dam project, in Ife-East Local Government Area (LGA) of Osun State.

He noted this is to enable the Federal Government to take necessary actions by providing all that is required for its timely completion, report said.

The Minister assured the people of Ile-Ife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to making food available and affordable for all Nigerians, creating job opportunities for the teeming youths, and initiating people-oriented programmes, and formulating policies aimed at improving the living conditions of the citizens.
