The World Health Organisation (WHO) says by estimates, almost one in three women —approximately 736 million people — experiences physical or verbal abuse in her lifetime.

Several governments have ratified legislation designed to protect women’s safety, but women remain vulnerable to acts of violence worldwide.

Sadly, emerging data indicates that the rate of violence against women only intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Afolabi Odeyemi, a regional Spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria, commented: “This is a global crisis that affects not just women, but also families and communities.

“Women’s safety should be a concern to all.”

In this May 2024, an article titled, “Women’s Safety—The Bible’s Perspective”, has been published, and it is trending on jw.org, the official Web site of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

It is a free resource for women who have experienced violence and need healing and support.

Quoting from the Scriptures, the article will address God’s view of women and what he intends to do regarding the mistreatment of women in the future.

Odeyemi also noted: “The Bible offers so much hope for victims of violence.

“It is hoped that women who have been victims of any form of violence can truly find relief from real hope and comfort that the bible provides, feeling more cherished, valued, and supported.”
