CDA Initiative: NITDA, Cisco ink MoU to accelerate digital transformation in Nigeria

In the agency’s bid to advance the country’s digital economy drive, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has stated it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cisco to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation through the company’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) Programme.

ConsumerConnect reports NITDA explained the Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration Programme is “a global initiative that partners with government and private sector leaders to develop sustainable, secure, and inclusive communities powered by ethical and innovative technology solutions.”

Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of NITDA and Clayton Naidoo, Senior Director of Cisco on the Country Digital Acceleration Programme, both signed the MoU at the NITDA Headquarters, in Abuja, FCT.

The Information Technology (IT) sector regulatory agency also noted the partnership with Cisco aims to unlock the value of digitalisation, and drive an inclusive future in the country.

According to NITDA, the Federal Government will collaborate with Cisco, industry, and academia to speed up the national digitisation agenda by implementing pilot projects in five key areas.

These are Repurposing NCAIR to create an AI and Cybersecurity Experience and Incubation Center; Establishing a Broadband Innovation Center; Setting up a Smart Agriculture Demo Farm; Designing and deploying Technology Learning Hubs; and Incubating Defense Technology Solutions.

On the significance of the fresh partnership with Cisco to activate the CDA initiative in Nigeria, NITDA said: “This partnership aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s @officialABAT priority areas of accelerating diversification through digitisation and innovation, strengthening national security for peace and prosperity, and boosting agriculture to achieve food security.”
