Lagos: Organised Labour hails Governor Sanwo-Olu for people-oriented interventions

*The Lagos Chapter of the Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress applauds Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his administration’s various people-oriented interventions to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship on consumers across the cosmopolitan state in the country

The Nigerian workers, in their hundreds, joined the rest of the world in commemorating the 2024 International Workers’ Day Wednesday, May 1, using the occasion to commend Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.

ConsumerConnect reports with this year’s theme, “People First”, the state’s workforce commemorated the day at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (Onikan Stadium), in Lagos.

Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Lagos State on New Media, also wrote in a blogpost that the Lagos Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) particularly applauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for the various people-oriented interventions made to cushion the effects of the economic situation.

Gawat noted the workers mentioned such areas of interventions to include the 25 percent Transport Palliative, ‘Ounje Eko’ Market and Food Bank Initiatives, and the three days working policy for Workers in the state.

Other economic interventions mentioned are the prompt payment of workers’ salaries,

the N35,000 wage award the Federal Government has approved, as well the food palliative distribution to consumers in Lagos, under the EKO CARES initiative, among others.
