CBN’s Cardoso engages global stakeholders on strengthening Nigeria’s economic partnerships in Washington

In rallying support for the Bankers’ Bank ongoing monetary policy reforms in the economy, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has  met with global industry stakeholders at the ongoing International Monetary Fund-IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings, in Washington, D.C., United States (US).

ConsumerConnect reports the CBN, in a statement issued via its verified social media account, said on Day 5 at the Meetings, the Nigerian banking sector regulator, led by Dr. Cardoso continued its strategic engagements with key stakeholders.

The Bank noted that the team particularly focused on strengthening Nigeria’s “economic partnerships and shaping the global economic landscape.”

The CBN Chief also, was the special guest at a roundtable the US Chamber of Commerce and the American Business Council organised on Day 5 of the international forum.

The Bank stated: “At the session, participants which included select business thought-leaders, high-level government officials, and partners, addressed critical economic and regulatory priorities, and explored strategies to enhance bilateral cooperation between the United States and Nigeria.”

According to CBN, both Cardoso and Mr Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, Director-General of Economic Policy, led a meeting with fixed-income institutional investors across emerging markets, hosted by the Jefferies Group.

“The meeting provided an opportunity to share insights on Nigeria’s macroeconomic environment, with a specific focus on monetary and foreign exchange policy,” it said.

Besides, the Governor of CBN in yet another high-level meeting hosted by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), discussed impactful partnerships and initiatives.
