The Federal lawmakers in the Nigerian National Assembly (NASS) have been urged to suspend their recess in order to reconvene for the plenary to consider the revised Budget 2020.

Alhaji Mohammed Ataba Sani-Omolori, Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), stated this in a memo dated May 26, to the lawmakers to resume sitting on Thursday, May 28.

It is recalled that both chambers of the National Assembly had adjourned on May 19 till June 2 so as to enable the Federal legislators to celebrate Eid-El-Fitr.

ConsumerConnect recalls that the Federal Government in April 2020 had decided to revisit the estimates and reduce the Budget 2020 by over N320billion, and proposed a new budget of N10.27 trillion against the original N10.59 trillion passed by the National Assembly.

The Federal Government stated that the cut is based on the global economic realities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic instigating the recent crisis in the international oil market.
