Consumer Safety: Hyundai recalls 28,439 Genesis G80, G90, G70 cars for oil leakage with potential engine fire

Hyundai Motor America is recalling 28,439 model year 2018-2020 Genesis G80s, model year 2017-2022 G90s and model year 2019-2022 G70s with a 3.3-liter V6 turbocharged engine.

The automobile manufacturer said the left turbocharger oil feed pipe might deteriorate and leak oil.

The company also disclosed that an oil leak in the presence of hot engine components could increase the risk of an engine compartment fire, agency report said.

In connection with what to do in addressing the defect, Hyundai stated that dealers would replace the left turbocharger oil feed pipe free of charge.

It equally noted the vehicles previously repaired under a recall issued July 2019 would need to have the new remedy completed

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 7, 2024.
