The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Friday, March 8, 2024, joined the rest of the global community to celebrate the “wonderful and commendable strides of women in all spheres of life”.

ConsumerConnect reports the International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated March 8,  is globally recognised as the International Women’s Day (IWD) across the world, and the global theme for this year’s commemoration of the event is “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”.

Speaking during the Commission’s celebration of the 2024 International Women’s Day at the NCC Corporate Headquarters, in Abuja, FCT, Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of NCC, stated that the telecoms sector regulatory Commission “is happy to celebrate the wonderful and commendable strides of women in all spheres of life.”

Maida said: “At NCC, we recognise the immense value that diversity brings to our workplace, and we are committed to fostering an environment where women are empowered and included….”

The EVC/CEO also noted the need for other stakeholders in the country’s digital ecosystem, including the government, corporate Nigeria, and the telecoms industry players to join the Commission in building and nurturing an enabling environment that promotes talent and skills for our female gender for development.

“As we celebrate women today, we invite the government, corporate Nigeria, and the telecom and ICT industry, to join us in building and nurturing an ecosystem that promotes talent and skills for our female gender, while promoting equal opportunities for their growth and advancement,” said the Executive Vice-Chairman of NCC.
