Honda recalls 750,114 vehicles with defective airbags (Full List)

*The automobile manufacturer explains the airbags of the affected Honda vehicles may deploy unintentionally in a crash

American Honda Motor Corporation is recalling 750,114 of the following vehicles, which are:

  • Model year 2020-2022 Pilots, Accords, Civic sedans, HR-Vs and Odysseys,
  • Model year 2020 Civic coupes and Fits,
  • Model year 2021-2022 Civic hatchbacks,
  • Model year 2021 Civic Type Rs and Insights,
  • Model year 2020-2021 CR-Vs, CR-V Hybrids, Passports, Ridgelines and Accord Hybrids,
  • Model year 2020 Acura MDXs,
  • Model year 2022 Acura MDXs,
  • Model year 2020-2022 Acura RDXs, and
  • Model year 2020-2021 Acura TLXs.

ConsumerConnect learnt the company noted the front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, failing to suppress the airbag as intended.

Honda Motor also stated that an airbag that deploys unintentionally in a crash can increase the risk of injury.

As regards what to addressing the fault, the company said  the dealers would replace the seat weight sensors free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 18, 2024, agency report said.

Honda’s numbers for these recalls are XHP and VHQ.
