NCC assures WATRA of support on telecoms regulatory affairs

As part of Commission’s continued interventions at the regional telecommunications body to fulfil its mandate, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has assured the West African Telecommunications Regulators Assembly (WATRA) of regulatory support in fulfilling its strategic role in shaping the regulation of the telecoms sector in the sub-region.

ConsumerConnect reports Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of NCC, stated this while receiving in audience the members of WATRA, who visited him in office, in Abuja, FCT, recently.

Speaking during the engagement at the Commission, Engr. Aliyu Aboki, Executive Secretary of WATRA congratulated the EVC/CEO of NCC on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Aboki highlighted some key achievements of his leadership at WATRA thus far.

According to the Executive Secretary of WATRA, such attainments during his tenure include the development of an updated strategic plan for the Assembly.

The strategic plan encompasses digital collaboration among member states, as well as the re-introduction of Guinea Bissau, The Gambia and Niger into WATRA, among others.
