In a move to further support the execution of the agency’s mandate to ensure sustainable building and construction standards in the state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has commissioned the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) building, in Lagos.

ConsumerConnect reports Sanwo-Olu, who performed the official commissioning of the office Tuesday, November 21, 2023, said the building would serve as the Headquarters of LASBCA.

Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on New Media, also noted that the agency  now has a permanent operational base “to effectively discharge its statutory mandate of the enforcement of building regulations, control and supervision.”

The Lagos Governor said LASBCA had evolved over the years, creating a reputation of inflexibility for itself while discharging its responsibilities in line with professional ethics in the cosmopolitan state.

The SSA stated Governor Sanwo-Olu enjoined property developers and stakeholders in the industry to ensure compliance with the State’s urban planning regulations and building construction codes.

He, however, warned against any attempt to compromise the rules and put the safety of people in danger.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed that all the Lagos State enforcement agencies overseeing property development had been given strict instructions to maintain “zero tolerance” for flouting of extant building control regulations across the state.
