Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady, condoles with Gov. Zulum over death of mother-in-law

Senator Remi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has paid a condolence visit to the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umar Zulum, in in Maiduguri, the state capital, over the death of his mother in-law, Fatsuma Kyari, which occurred last week.

Senator Tinubu, who was on the visit alongside Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, wife of Vice-President Kashim Shettima; Ekaette Akpabio, wife of Senate President; Prof. Hafsat Ganduje, wife of the APC National Chairman, and Hajiya Bilkis Kyari, wife of the Minister for Agriculture,  urged the Governor Zulum and family members of the deceased to take solace in the will of God.

Busola Kukoyi, Spokesperson of the First Lady, Thursday, November 16, 2023, noted though she was away at the time of the unfortunate incident, Oluremi Tinubu had asked Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, to represent her at the funeral.

The First Lady stated she considered it important to personally come down to Borno to empathise with the bereaved family, government and people of Borno over the loss of their loved one.

In his remarks during the condolence visit, Governor Zulum extended gratitude to the First Lady Tinubu for the visit to condole with the family.

The Borno State Governor also said: “I want to appreciate you  on behalf of the family for condoling us over the demise of our mother.”

Prior to her meeting the state governor, Senator Tinubu had paid a condolence visit to Dr. Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor’s wife, at her family house also in Maiduguri.

They offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the departed.

The statement said late Hajiya Fatsuma Kyari was mother to Dr. Falmata Babagana Zulum, the First Lady of Borno State.

The late Hajiya Zulum was 67 years old, and survived by her children and grandchildren.
