Safety: Toyota recalls 750,795 Highlander, Highlander hybrid SUVs over defective front bumper covers

Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing is recalling 750,795 model year 2020-2023 Highlanders and Highlander Hybrids.

ConsumerConnect learnt the during normal vehicle operation, minor impact to the front lower bumper cover of the affected vehicles may result in the cover coming loose or detaching.

The automobile manufacturing giant noted that a detached front bumper cover could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash for consumers, agency report said.

In connection with what to do in addressing the defect, Toyota said that dealers would  repair or replace the upper and lower front bumper covers — as necessary — free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed to consumers December 11, 2023.

Meanwhile, affected vehicle owners may contact Toyota Customer Service on (800) 331-4331. Toyota’s number for this recall is 23TB12/23TA12.
