Tinubu appoints new Chief Executives for NCC, NITDA, NIPOST, 2 other agencies in Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy

*President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has effected  sweeping changes with fresh appointments of new Chief Executive Officer to man some agencies in the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, effected sweeping changes with fresh appointments of the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of some agencies in the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

The affected agencies in the Ministry are the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigeria Communication Satellite (NigComSat) Limited, Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

Those affected in the latest shake-up in the parastatals include Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of NCC, Sunday Adepoju, Postmaster General of NIPOST, and Tukur Funtua,  CEO of NigComSat respectively.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser (SA) to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed these developments in a statement issued Wednesday, in Abuja, FCT.

The new CEOs were listed as Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman and CEO of NCC; Nkechi Egerton-Idehen as Managing Director of the NigComSat; and Tola Odeyemi as Postmaster General of NIPOST.

Ngelale stated that the fresh appointments were with immediate effect.

However, Malam Kashifu Abdullahi, CCIE, and Dr. Vincent Olatunji were reappointed as Director General of NITDA and  National Commissioner of NDPC respectively.

Besides, the Presidential media aide said the further appointed Idris Alubankudi as new Special Adviser on Technology and Digital Economy.

The statement noted: “President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new and returning Chief Executives to fresh terms in office across multiple agencies under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy as follows: “EVC/CEO, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) — Dr. Aminu Maida; Managing Director/CEO, Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) — Nkechi Egerton-Idehen; Director-General/CEO, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) — Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi; National Commissioner / CEO, Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) — Dr. Vincent Olatunji; and Tola Odeyemi as the new Postmaster General/CEO, Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) .”

According to the Presidency, in line with President Tinubu’s determination to maximally leverage Nigeria’s proven technological and digital economic prowess to reposition the country’s economy towards greater financial inclusion, he also approved the appointment of Idris Alubankudi as new Special Adviser to the President on Technology and Digital Economy.

Ngelale stated: “By this directive of the President, the above-mentioned appointments take immediate effect.”
