Renowned, global artist Pablo Picasso’s masterpiece on his former lover is estimated to realise in excess of $120million when it is offered at auction November 2023, in New York, United States (US).

The work, which is one of the most valuable paintings ever to come to the market, was already  planned to be on display till Saturday, October 7, 2023, in London, United Kingdom (UK).

ConsumerConnect learnt the 1932 work, Femme A La Montre, by the Spanish artist is of his ‘golden muse’ Marie-Therese Walter.

She was the subject of many of his paintings after she had an affair with Picasso, Metro UK report said.

Picasso was said to have met Marie-Therese, who is widely considered to be the most significant woman in his life, while he was in a relationship with Russian ballerina Olga Khokhlova.

Art patron and collector Emily Fisher Landau currently owns the oil on canvas work, and it is one of many pieces in her collection, report noted.

It was gathered that Ms. Fisher Landau bought the Picasso painting in 1968 at the start of her collecting journey, after receiving an insurance settlement for a jewellery robbery at her home.

Picasso’s ‘Femme a la montre’ for exhibition in Dubai, UAE

On September 25 this year, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), people attend the opening of the exhibition of famous painting of Pablo Picasso ”Femme a la montre”, as it is brought to UAE to be exhibited outside the U.S. after over 50 years at Sotheby’s Dubai in Dubai.

American painter and sculptor Jasper Johns, Dutch-American artist Willem de Kooning, American painter and printmaker Robert Rauschenberg and abstract painter Mark Rothko are among the other artists featured in The Emily Fisher Landau Collection: An Era Defined.

Other artists associated with the pop art movement like Andy Warhol and Edward Ruscha are also included.

Rauschenberg’s 1962 silkscreen could go for as much as £6.5 million to £10 million, report said.

The artwork will be exhibited in Sotheby’s in London from Saturday until Wednesday before it is showcased in Paris, Taipei and Los Angeles and has already been to Dubai and Hong Kong.

The whole collection is expected to generate a total of well over $400 million (£327 million) and will be offered for sale at Sotheby’s New York, in two dedicated auctions November 8 and 9, 2023, according to report.
