The Senate in the National Assembly (NASS), Abuja, FCT, Wednesday, October 4, 2023, confirmed three more Ministerial Nominees: Jamila Ibrahim (Kwara State); Balarabe Lawal (Kaduna State); and Ayodele Olawande (Ondo State), in addition to the 45 Ministers the Upper Legislative Chamber earlier August 2023.

ConsumerConnect reports the Senate confirmation of the new set of Ministerial Nominees came a day after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had forwarded a letter to the Senate, seeking the Federal lawmakers’ confirmation of the  nominees.

Hours after the screening cum confirmation exercise, which commenced about 1 p.m. Wednesday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio put the nominations to a voice vote.

The Senators thereafter voted in favour of the nominees’ confirmation in the Chamber.

It is also noted that earlier in the course of the exercise, Lawal, one of the Ministerial Nominees from Kaduna State, had collapsed after concluding his introduction, causing several people present to rush to his aid in the process.

Although he was unable to take questions due to the unexpected incident, the Senator’s also confirmed Lawal’s nomination along with the two others.

He was, however, revived moments later after what was described as “exhaustion” in the Chamber while there for confirmation.

Lawal later addressed reporters, and declared that “I am all right now.”
