COVID-19: ATCON donates medical supplies to Lagos State

As part of its contributions to the ongoing efforts at curbing the spread of the fatal Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in in the country, the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) has presented medical supplies to the Ministry of Health, Lagos State.

Mr. Olusola Teniola, President of ATCON, in his address on the occasion Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at Lekki, in Lagos, said: “It gives me much pleasure to be present at the Lagos State Ministry of Health today, being the second day after the lockdown in the state to present medical supplies to curb the spread of Coronavirus.”

ConsumerConnect reports that some of the medical supplies presented to the Lagos State Government include locally 2,000 pieces of locally-made face masks, which  the Association said were meant “to support the initiative of ‘MaskLagos’” initiative of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, as well as 18 dozens of 500ml alcohol-based hand sanitisers.

Teniola further stated: “The Association is proud of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu because of his notable efforts at curbing the spread of Coronavirus outbreak in Lagos through Lagos State Ministry of Health.

“Aside from our physical appearance today, our members have supported and still providing quality support to all Isolation Centres in the state by the provision of free Internet service at all the centres and subscribers were given the opportunity of sending messages to their loved ones without paying for them.”

The ATCON President added that in an attempt to further express the Association’s solidarity and support for the good work Lagos State and Ministry of Health have been doing to halt the further spread of COVID-19 epidemic, ATCON members decided to present the medical supplies as nose masks and hand sanitisers to the state government.

He also pledged the Association’s unflinching support to the State Ministry of Health in the fight against COVID-19 both in Lagos and the entire country.

Present at the event are Dr. Frederic Abimbola Oladeinde, Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, who represented Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu; Professor Akin Abayomi, Honourable Commissioner for Health, Lagos State; Directors and Staff of the State Ministry of Health; and the National Executive Council Members of ATCON, among others.
