Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, has stressed the need for global collaborations on a platform to build on the upward trajectory of digital transformation as a key contributor to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

ConsumerConnect reports Dr. Tijani stated this at the recent G-20 Summit held in India, where he joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, other Ministers, including Mr. Olawale Edun, his counterpart in Finance Ministry and Coordinating Minister for Economy, as well as captains of industry from Nigeria at a roundtable with senior Indian Government officials and leaders from their business community.

Maximisng digital transformation as a key contributor to Nigeria’s GDP

On the objectives of the country’s latest engagement with the global world at the G-20 Summit, the Minister, in a blog post, noted: “I had the unique privilege of speaking about our shared values and belief in the power of democracy and entrepreneurship as a catalyst for increased investment and economic growth.

“The collaboration between our countries gives us a platform to build on the upward trajectory of digital transformation as a key contributor to Nigeria’s GDP.”

He also disclosed the Nigerian delegation attended a gathering of India’s business community at “a business conference to discuss areas of cooperation between our countries.”

As regards some specific areas of collaboration with certain global partners and leaders, Tijani said: “I shared my thoughts about our desire as a country to leverage our young entrepreneurial population, combined with India’s strength in technological innovation to contribute to the global digital narrative.

“I also signed a couple of MoUs on behalf of Nigeria as part of our collaboration with partners in India.”

According to him, on the first one with his counterpart at India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Minister shared “best-in-class digital solutions for the benefit of the citizens and another with the team at Central Square Foundation, India to partner towards building a stronger EdTech ecosystem.”

He further noted: “These initiatives are made possible through President Tinubu’s visionary leadership towards achieving economic growth and prosperity for all Nigerians.

“It’s a great time to invest in Nigeria, and I am excited about the possibilities around our collaboration with India.”
