Auto manufacturer recalls 162,000 Jeep SUVs over defective rearview image software

*Chrysler explains a rearview image that does not display while in reverse decreases the driver’s visibility of the rear view, increasing the risk of injury or crash

Chrysler is recalling 162,000 model year 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokees, model year 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ls, and model year 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneers and Grand Wagoneers.

The automobile manufacturer said the Central Vision Park Assist module (CVPAM) software might prevent the rearview image from displaying when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

The company also explained that a rearview image that does not display while in reverse decreases the driver’s visibility of the rear view, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

In respect of what to do in addressing the fault, Chrysler also said that dealers would update the CVPAM software free of charge.

Notification letters to owners are expected to be mailed October 3, 2023.

Meanwhile, affected vehicle owners may contact Chrysler Customer Service on (800) 853-1403.

Chrysler’s number for this recall is 56A.
