Toyota recalls 110,047 vehicles over defective airbag (Full List)

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling 110,047 of the following vehicles:

  • Model year 2023 Corollas, Corolla Crosses, Corolla Cross Hybrids, Highlanders, Highlander Hybrids & Tacomas,
  • Model year 2023 Lexus RX350s, RX350 Hybrids & RX500 Hybrids,
  • Model year 2023-2024 Lexus NX250s, NX350s & NX350 Hybrids.

The automobile manufacturer said an electrical connection inside the steering column’s spiral cable assembly may be insufficiently welded, causing the connection to separate and deactivate the driver’s airbag.

Toyota also stated that failure of the driver’s airbag to deploy as intended increases the risk of injury for consumers in a crash

As regards what to do in addressing the fault, the company noted the dealers would inspect and replace the spiral cable assembly — if necessary — free of charge.

Letters to owners notifying of this recall are expected to be mailed August 27, 2023.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Toyota’s Customer Service on (800) 331-4331.

Toyota’s number for this recall is 23TA08. Lexus’ number for this recall is 23LA02.
