Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

American Honda Motor Company is currently recalling 124,077 of the following vehicles:

  • Model year 2020-2021 Civics,
  • Model year 2020-2023 Ridgelines,
  • Model year 2021-2023 Passports,
  • Model year 2021-2022 Pilots, and
  • Model year 2020 Acura MDXs.

The automobile manufacturer said the tie rod fastener that connects the brake booster and the brake master cylinder may have been improperly assembled

Honda noted this situation could cause the brake master cylinder to separate from the booster assembly.

Brake master cylinder separation can cause a loss of brake function and increase the risk of a crash, it stated.

In connection with what to do in addressing this defect, the company said dealers would inspect and repair the brake booster assembly– as necessary — free of charge, agency report said.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 7, 2023.

Meanwhile, affected vehicle owners may contact Honda Customer Service on (888) 234-2138.

Honda’s numbers for this recall are VEU, AEV, and ZET.
