Economy: Dangote Refinery will generate several jobs, stabilise the Naira –Tinubu

Nigerian President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has assured Nigerians that the newly-activated Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Company will generate a “humongous” quantum of jobs and stabilise the Naira, the country’s national currency.

Tinubu, who stated this Monday, May 22, 2023, at the project commissioning at Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, described the day as one of the greatest in the contemporary annals of Nigeria’s history.

Represented at the historic event by Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, Asiwaju Tinubu said Dangote’s accomplishment was highlighted by the “huge” prospects of the “gigantic” project for reversing the country’s reliance on imported petroleum products.

According to him, the 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) petrol refinery will also generate a “humongous” quantum of jobs and stablise the Naira.

ConsumerConnect reports  Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the pan-African Conglomerate, Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), in his address at the project inauguration Monday, disclosed that the new   refinery, in Lagos, would employ over 100,000 Nigerians youths as well as generate over $21 billion.

The President-elect also stressed the Dangote Refinery would help to improve the economy and positively impact the lives and wellbeing of Nigerians.

Shettima as well contended that it is safe to say Dangote Refinery will be the most consequential single project to come on stream in recent times.

He said the President-elect noted that the factory is bound to leave a sizable impact on the growth and development of the country’s economy, while positively influencing the lives and wellbeing of the people.

Shettima stated: “Therefore, on behalf of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I heartily commend and congratulate Alhaji Aliko Dangote and The Dangote Group on not only envisioning this significant project but for their courage, resilience, and team power in bringing this edifice to fruition.
