The Nigerian Government has disclosed the Federal Ministry of Aviation is now renamed as the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace of Nigeria.

ConsumerConnect learnt Senator Hadi Sirika, Honourable Minister for Aviation had contended that aviation and aerospace are intertwined, and that Nigeria would need to proactively set its policies to align with future occurrence in the significant industry.

Sirika, made the announcement Wednesday, May 17, 2023,  in Abuja, FCT, shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Minister also explained the alteration in the nomenclature became necessary because it is on the exclusive list of the government.

He stressed the fact that the future of the global aviation sector has experienced an advancement, such that aviation and aerospace are intertwined.

According to him, Nigeria needs to proactively set its policies to align with future occurrence in the industry.

Sirika as well linked the development to the establishment of the African Aerospace and Aviation University, in Abuja.

FEC approves concessioning of 2 airports

The Federal Executive Council also approved the concessioning of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, and Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, in Kano, Northern Nigeria.

The Minister noted that the Abuja Airport would be concessioned for 20 years, while that of Kano would be concessioned for 30 years.
