Safety: Ford recalls 231,942 Ranger vehicles with airbag issue

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Ford Motor Company is recalling 231,942 model year 2004-2006 Rangers that received replacement front passenger airbag inflators under a previous recall.

ConsumerConnect learnt the replacement front passenger airbag inflators may have been installed incorrectly.

Ford said an incorrectly installed inflator may not properly inflate the passenger airbag, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

In connection with what to do in addressing the defect, the automobile manufacturer noted that the dealers would inspect and reinstall the front passenger airbag inflator — as necessary — free of charge.

According to the company, owners should start receiving notification letters shortly after May 22, 2023, agency report said.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Ford Customer Service on (866) 436-7332.

Ford’s number for this recall is 23S08.
