In a move to protect consumers of the petroleum product, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have swooped on a syndicate operating an illegal lubricant adulterating site in Iwofe/Rumuepirikom community, Obio Akpor Local government Area of Rivers State.

ConsumerConnect reports Michael Ogar, Corps Commandant in Rivers State, disclosed that the petrol station where adulteration takes place would be sealed off, while  the suspects would be charged to court after investigation.

The Commandant explained the illegal site is located right at the back of a functional petrol station on Iwofe Road in the area.

The NSCDC operatives arrested four suspects on site, just as the cops yet are on the trail of the owner of the petrol station where the criminal act is being perpetrated.

Ogar, who led journalists to the site Thursday said it was uncovered by the Command’s Anti-vandal Land Patrol Team following credible intelligence.

The Commandant also noted that a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects carved out stencils with Total and Mobil Oil emblems used as stickers on the illegal, packaged products before distribution to unwary prospective consumers.

According to the Commandant, one of the suspects said they deal in buying and selling of lubricants from authorised dealers.

The petrol station will be sealed, and the suspects will be charged to court after investigation, said Ogar.
