Hyundai recalls 167,085 vehicles over defective windshield wipers

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Hyundai Motor America is recalling 167,085 model year 2021-2023 Palisades, expanding an earlier recall.

The automobile manufacturer disclosed the windshield wiper motor of the affected vehicles may operate intermittently or fail to operate due to snow or ice buildup on the windshield, causing the wipers to fail.

Failure of the windshield wipers can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash, said Hyundai.

In connection with what to do in addressing the defect, the company said dealers would replace the driver-side windshield wiper arm free of charge, agency report noted.

Letters to owners notifying them of the recall should be in the mail May 16, 2023.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Hyundai Customer Service on (855) 371-9460.

Hyundai’s number for this recall is 243.
