Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

BMW of North America is recalling 15,803 model year 2022-2023 iX xDrive40, iX xDrive50, iX M60 and X1 xDrive28i vehicles.

The automobile manufacturer disclosed that the front driver’s side airbag of the affected vehicles might have been manufactured incorrectly, and might not deploy as intended in a crash.

BMW said an airbag that does not deploy properly increases the risk of injury to consumers.

In regard to what to do in addressing the issue, the company noted dealers will replace the driver’s airbag free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 7, 2023.

Affected vehicle owners may contact BMW Customer Service on (800) 525-7417.
