The Federal Government has stated that Port Harcourt had been selected as the hub for the 25,000 metric tonnes of wheat being expected from Ukraine.

ConsumerConnect reports Russia has also extended its supply of grains to the country through a United Nations (UN) arrangement.

Mohammed Abubakar, Honourable Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, disclosed this development March 22, 2023, during a media briefing with the State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

President Muhammadu Buhari chaired the meeting at the State House, in Abuja, FCT.

The Minister said that Port Harcourt had been selected as the hub for the 25,000 metric tonnes of wheat expected from war-ravaged Ukraine.

Abubakar noted that the wheat consignment from Ukraine is on the high sea, and the hub would create economic activities in the area in Rivers State.
