General Motors is recalling 22,132 model year 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500s & 3500s, and GMC Sierra 2500s & 3500s with a dual fuel tank option.

The automobile manufacturer said the rear fuel tank may collapse and prevent the fuel pump from transferring fuel to the front tank, resulting in an engine stall, posing a crash risk.

As regards what to do in correcting the defect, GM said that dealers would inspect the fuel tank and fuel pump module, replacing them as necessary, report said.

Dealers will also add a vent hose to the rear tank assembly, it noted.

Repairs will be performed free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 24, 2023.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Chevrolet Customer Service on (800) 222-1020, or GMC Customer Service on 1(800) 462-8782.

GM’s number for this recall is N222368030.
