Ford recalls 382,759 Explorers, Lincoln Aviators and Corsairs over defective rearview cameras

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Ford Motor Company is recalling 382,759 model year 2020-2023 Explorers & Lincoln Aviators, and model year 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsairs with a 360-degree camera.

This expands and replaces a recall issued in October 2021, report said.

The automobile manufacturer said the video output might fail, preventing the rearview camera image from displaying.

The company noted the  loss of the rearview camera image can reduce the driver’s rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

As regards what consumers should do, the company disclosed dealers would update the image processing module (IPMB) software free of charge.

“Vehicles repaired under the earlier will need to have the new remedy performed,” said agency report.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 20, 2023.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Ford Customer Service on (866) 436-7332.

Ford’s number for this recall is 23S02.
