Academic Fraud: JAMB arrests 6 CBT personnel, 34 exam candidates

In its efforts at protecting the integrity of the public examination regulatory body and operations in the education space, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed it arrested six personnel of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Kano State, Northern Nigeria, as well as 34 candidates for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for exam irregularities.

ConsumerConnect learnt  Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of JAMB, confirmed this development Wednesday, February 1.

Among those arrested was a law student of the Bayero University (BUK), Kano, said to have thumb-printed for 14 prospective students sitting for the examination at Butale Computer Centre in the ancient city.

JAMB also apprehended another suspect at the same centre for thumb-printing for 14 students, with the third culprit arrested by Prof. Oloyede while registering for six candidates.

The JAMB Registrar, who had travelled to Kano so as to monitor the UTME registration, visited about six JAMB centres, report said.
