In the Commission’s efforts at promoting digital literacy and skills of young school girls in the country, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says it is organising a maiden edition of the Nigeria Girls Can Code Competition (NGCC) in line with the catch-them-young global initiative.

ConsumerConnect reports the telecoms sector regulatory Commission discloses the NGCC initiative aims to engage girls in secondary schools across Nigeria, to debate on innovative ways to address the challenges of food security through the application of the Fifth Generation (5G) technology in the country’s economy.

The event is scheduled to hold Wednesday, February 1, 2023,

at the Commission’s Head Office’s Conference Hall, Maitama, Abuja, FCT, at 10:00 a.m. prompt.

The NCC, in a public notice, also stated the objective is in line with the Federal Government’s policy initiative –  Nigeria Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, NDEPS – (2020-2030).

The NDEPS is the second pillar that “underscores the importance of Promotion of Digital Literacy and Skills among Nigerians,” explained the Commission.
