In view of the apparent concern and several prompts by individuals, groups and organisations to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of the relief funds, the Nigerian Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 says it has agreed to publish full details of funds remitted and disbursed from the nation’s relief account.

Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Task Force, who stated this in his updates on the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country in Abuja, disclosed that an agreed arrangement with the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) had been reached on the issue.

Mustapha noted that the committee is assessing the Coronavirus lockdown order and will advise President Muhammadu Buhari accordingly.

He also revealed that in the coming days, Nigeria will be receiving some items under the United Nation’s food basket.

On the need for Nigerians to obey social distancing practice during the lockdown, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, however, noted that private hospitals that desire to be engaged in the management and treatment of the disease are to be cleared by the relevant authorities before they can carry out such an exercise.
