Alexander Davis | ConsumerConnect

General Motors (GM) is expanding an earlier recall to a total of 740,108 vehicles.

The affected vehicles are:

  • Model year 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4s & CT5s;
  • Model year 2021-2023 Buick Envisions; and
  • Model year 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalades & Escalade ESVs, Chevrolet Silverado 1500s, Suburbans, Tahoes, GMC Sierra 1500s, Yukons, and Yukon XLs.

ConsumerConnect learnt the daytime running lights (DRLs) of the vehicles may not deactivate when the headlights are on.

GM said DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.

As regards to what consumers need to do, the automobile manufacturing company said the body control module software would be updated by a dealer, or through an Over-the-Air (OTA) update free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 23, 2023.

Affected vehicle owners may contact GMC Customer Service on (888) 988-7267, Chevrolet Customer Service on (800) 222-1020, or Cadillac Customer Service at (800) 458-8006.

GM’s number for this recall is N222386380.
