In continuation of the Big Tech’s massive firings of employees, Elon Musk’s Twitter, again, has terminated the services of 4,400 to 5,500 contractors without advance notice.

ConsumerConnect learnt both Axios and CNBC, confirming the latest development in the global tech giant, as earlier scooped by tech newsletter Platformer, said most contract employees suddenly discovered that they had been sacked after losing access to the company’s e-mail and internal communications systems.

The mass layoffs spanned Twitter’s operations in the United States (US) and around the world.

The moves reportedly, have also affected teams working in content moderation, real estate, marketing, engineering, and other departments, according to report.

The latest cuts come about 10 days after Twitter laid off nearly half its 7,500 on-roll employees.

A number of Senior Executives of Twitter have also resigned or been fired since Musk took over the company, leaving it without a communications department.

Elon has ‘too much work’ Meanwhile, Twitter Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Musk said he had “too much work” as the Chief Executive of both Twitter, Tesla and SpaceX, as he undertakes mass layoffs and grapples with an advertising backlash at the leading social-media company.

The American billionaire businessman stated: “I have too much work on my plate, that is for sure.”

Besides, Musk also runs The Boring Company and Neuralink, report said.

It is recalled that Twitter has faced tumultuous two weeks since Musk’s takeover the leadership of the microblogging site and social media company.

Recently, the platform was forced to pause its $8-a-month premium offering, Twitter Blue, which gave users a blue tick without verifying their IDs.

This sparked an explosion of verified impersonator accounts, which spread confusion and misinformation on the platform.
