Aviation Safety: Lagos Airport domestic runway reopens for flight operations

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the reopening of the domestic runway of the Lagos Airport after its repairs.

ConsumerConnect learnt the development is sequel to the successful installation of the CAT III Airfield Ground Lighting system on the Runway referred to as 18L/36R.

This brings to an end, airlines inability to land on the runway after sunset.

The first flight took off on the rehabilitated runway in the morning Friday, November 11, 2022, at 6:15 a.m, according to report.

The project, which commenced July 8, 2022, was said to have lasted for 90 days.

FAAN noted that this is part of efforts at improving the safety and efficiency of flight operations at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMIA), in Lagos.
