Nigeria Customs seizes fuel tanker loaded with smuggled rice, PMS, others at border

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adamawa State Command, has disclosed its operatives  intercepted bags of foreign rice concealed in a Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise referred to as petrol, tanker and Urea fertilizer hidden in black polythene bags, among other contraband worth over N144million.

ConsumerConnect reports the NCS told reporters that  the regulatory agency made the seizures along the country’s border route with neighbouring Cameroon over a period of two months.

The Service also stated the other items seized from the suspects include 165 kilogram of pangolin scales and 1,000 kilogram of donkey skins wrapped in 10 sacks and PMS worth over N12 million.

Olaniyi Alajogun, Comptroller of Customs, Adamawa/Taraba Area Command, at a media briefing on the development in Yola, Adamawa State capital, noted that the seizures were as a result of the measures put in place to nib smuggling activities along the route in the bud.
