Nigeria discharges 5 patients, records second death from COVID-19

* It’s jubilation galore in Lagos over 5 more COVID-19 patients’ recovery

Giving an update on cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, Dr. Osagie Ehanire,
Honourable Minister for Health, has announced the second death from the novel Coronavirus.
It was gathered that Dr. Ehanire disclosed this Monday, in Abuja, FCT, during the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 media briefing.

The Minster said that the affected patient had underlying health issues.

The disclosure brought the number of death from the virus to two in the country.

ConsumerConnect recalls that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), March 23, 2020, had announced the first Covid-19 death in Nigeria and described the victim as a 67-year-old man who had returned to Nigeria following medical treatment in the United Kingdom (UK).

It was confirmed that he had pre-existing medical conditions including cancer and diabetes. The dead was a former Managing Director of PPMC, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Meanwhile in Lagos, there was cheering news as five more patients have been discharged from the mainland hospital, in Yaba, Monday, March 30.

These recoveries bring the total number of discharged persons to six in Nigeria.
