Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling 19,968 model year 2019-2022 CLS450 Coupes & AMG E53s, model year 2019-2021 AMG CLS53 Coupes, and model year 2021-2022 E450s.

The automobile manufacturer said  the 12-Volt battery in the affected vehicle models trunk may not be secured properly which, in a crash, can cause electrical connection failure.

The failure can cause the disabling of various safety features, including, emergency call (eCall) system, electric seat adjustment, hazard warning lights, and automatic door locks, agency report said.

Safety features that don’t work can increase the risk of injury, said MBUSA.

As regards what to do in rectifying the error, the company said the dealers would ensure the 12V battery is secured properly free of charge.

Affected vehicle owners will be notified about the recall, beginning November 29, 2022.

Owners may contact MBUSA Customer Service on (800) 367-6372.

The leading automaker has issued 29 recalls for over 969,000 vehicles this far this year, according to report.
