While urging the feuding parties to sheathe their swords and maintain peace, the Federal Government has explained that the country’s highest Security Council directed the reopening of Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana, in Kogi State guarantee and provide employment opportunities to Nigerians.

ConsumerConnect reports the National Security Council (NSC), chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari Friday, October 14, 2022, had directed that the Dangote Cement factory be reopened immediately.

The NSC issued the express directive at a meeting held in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, FCT.

Recall there has been a tussle over the ‘ownership’ of the cement plant between the Kogi State Government and Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, which had resulted in Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State’s sealing off the factory.

The trio of Mohammed Dingyadi, Honourable Minister for Police Affairs: Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Minister for Interior; and  General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), later briefed the reporters after the meeting.

Ogbeni Aregbesola disclosed that an agreement had been reached between the Kogi State Government and Dangote Group on the necessity to reopen the cement factory.

The Minister for Interior, therefore, urged both Kogi State and Dangote to sheathe their swords and honour the deal.

Aregbesola also urged that everything should be resolved, according to the law.

He emphasised that the Nigerian Government is committed to guaranteeing and providing employment to Nigerians.
