Consumer Safety: NSCDC apprehends 4 men over attempt to sell unhealthy meat to public

For allegedly attempting to sell dead cow meat to unsuspecting consumers, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Borno State, have arrested four suspects.

Malam Musa Faruk, Commandant of the Corps in the state, disclosed this development Thursday, October 13, 2022, in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Faruk said: “These suspects are Papilo Jayo, Inusa Usman, Inusa Lawan and Abdullahi Illiyasu.

“They were arrested at the Sabon Gari Polo in the capital of Maiduguri on October 6.”

The NSCDC Commandant stated that the Corps nabbed suspects, “following a tip-off from good citizens on the nefarious act and men of the Command quickly swung into action to arrest the suspects.”

Faruk also noted the arrest of the suspects has prevented what could have been disastrous to consumers, agency report said.

Consumption of unwholesome meat would have constituted a serious health hazard to the good citizens in the state, said he.

He stated: “As as soon as investigation into the matter is completed, the suspects would be charged to court.”
