Consumer Safety: Foods company recalls 4,480 pounds of pork, chicken sausages over contamination

Sunset Farm Foods of Valdosta, in Georgia, United States (US), is recalling approximately 4,480 pounds of fully cooked chicken and pork smoked sausages.

It was learnt the affected product may contain extraneous materials – specifically thin pieces of blue plastic.

As the foods company received consumer complaints about the plastic pieces embedded inside the pork and chicken sausage, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions, agency report said.

The following item, produced June 30, 2022, is being recalled:

28-oz. vacuum sealed packages of “Georgia Special Chicken and Pork Smoked Sausage” with a sell by date of 10-28-22.

The recalled product, bearing the establishment number “P 9185” inside the USDA mark of inspection, was sold at retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

With regard to what to do, consumers who purchased the recalled product are advised not to consume but discard, or return it to the place of purchase in the country.

Should any consumers suffer an injury or become ill, following consumption of the product, they are urged to contact a healthcare provider.
