2 Children die, 3 adults injured as building collapses in Lagos

*Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency discloses the agency activated its response to the incident, but 2 children died from the impact while 3 adult males sustained injuries, and were taken to nearby hospitals

At least two children have died after another building collapsed on Adeleye Street, Ladylak, in the Bariga area of Lagos State Sunday, August 21, 2022.

ConsumerConnect reports the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed that three adult males also sustained injuries in the incident, and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Director-General/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), in a statement issued in Lagos, said: “Situation report: Collapsed building on Adeleye Street Ladylak, Bariga.

“The Agency activated its response to the above incident; and upon arrival at the incident scene, discovered that the tank scaffolding of a two-storey building collapsed on a bungalow beside it and affected two rooms.”

Oke-Osanyintolu also stated: “Unfortunately, 2 children died from the impact; 3 adult males sustained injuries, and were taken to nearby hospitals.

“The Agency’s response team alongside Lagos State Fire and LASBCA (Lagos State Building Control Agency)  are responders at the incident scene.”
