Sanwo-Olu, Danbatta, Elumelu to headline Lagos PR stakeholders’ conference on leadership, poverty eradication

The Lagos State Chapter, the premier branch of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in collaboration with Addefort Limited, has announced that its 9th Lagos Public Relations Stakeholders’ Conference is being organised to address leadership and poverty eradication.

ConsumerConnect reports the Lagos NIPR Chapter in a statement issued at the weekend said the event would hold Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the MUSON Centre, Lagos.

The Institute also noted the 9th Lagos Public Relations Stakeholders’ Conference is a bridge-building initiative to interact and proffer solutions to the social, political and economic challenges plaguing our nation.

According to NIPR, this edition, with the theme, “Conversations on Leadership and Poverty Eradication”, is expected to feature distinguished speakers, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC);  Mr. Tony Elumelu, Founder and Chairman, Heirs Holdings; Mr. Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director-General, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN); and Mr. Kayode Pitan, Managing Director of Bank of Industry (BoI).

Among others are Tejumola Abisoye, Executive Secretary, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF); Hon. Cecilia Bolaji Dada, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Lagos State; and Dr. Oluseye Ajuwon, Economist and Consultant, University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Speaking on the conference, Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo, Chairman of Lagos NIPR, explained that the theme for this year’s edition is timely.

Mrs. Nwankwo stressed that the Institute is committed to setting agenda for stakeholder engagement and lead the discourse to reawaken national consciousness.

The Lagos NIPR chief also stated that eradicating poverty in all its forms remains one of the greatest challenges facing humanity, and Nigeria is not an exemption.

“Despite the efforts of government in the country, too many are still struggling for the most basic human needs,” said Nwankwo.

Mr. Olabamiji Adeleye, Conference Coordinator & Lead Consultant, Addefort Limited, disclosed several other participants in the conference would include representatives from Government, Public Relations practitioners, economic experts, the United Nations (UN), embassies, corporate organisations, institutions, NGOs, HODs of relevant agencies, and the media among other stakeholders.
