Pantami extols late Sheikh Maigona’s virtues as Danbatta condoles with Minister

Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, Honourable Minister for Communications and Digital Economy, has extolled the virtues of late Sheikh Abubakar Umar Maigona, an Islamic scholar and member of Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who died in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, during the 2022 Hajj pilgrimage.

The Minister, who stated that his late friend, who has turned to become a brother, is a fount of knowledge who lived an exemplary life.

Pnatami, who spoke in his office in Abuja during a condolence visit by the Executive Management of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), led by Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice-Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO), said he and late Sheikh Maigona grew up together with fond memories about their backgrounds.

Mr. Reuben Muoka, Director of Public Affairs at NCC, in a statement issued in Abuja, FCT, said Prof. Pantami reflected in solemn submission about the life and times of the late Islamic scholar, with whom he noted attended same Islamic school in their early life while growing up.

The Minister for Communications and Digital Economy also stated: “The relationship between me and my late friend, Sheikh Abubakar Umar Maigona, was deep and later we became very close brothers and associates.

“We shared many things growing up.”

He expressed appreciation for the visit of the leadership of the Commission for coming to commiserate with him over the demise of his late friend.

Earlier, Prof. Danbatta had conveyed the condolences of the Board and Management of the Commission, and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive Maigona for his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus.

Mr. Ayuba Shuaibu, Secretary, Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF); Bar. Usman Malah Director of Human Capital and Administration; Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, Director of Special Duties; and Mr. Reuben Muoka, Director of Public Affairs of the telecoms sector regulatory Commission, accompanied the NCC EVC/CEO during the visit.

Others are Malam Hafiz Shehu, Chief of Staff to Danbatta; Ismaila Nalado, Executive Assistant to the EVC/CEO; and Yakubu Musa, Special Assistant to the NCC Chief (Media).
