Dr. Mrs. Ifeoma Adaora Anyanwutaku, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Abuja, FCT, has said that the Civil Service Day celebration is meant to recognise excellence, honesty, diligence to duty, resourcefulness, innovation, creativity, courage, and commitment to the ethics of the public service among civil servants.

ConsumerConnect reports Dr. Anyanwutaku stated this at the 2022 Civil Service Day Celebration and Award Ceremony organised by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, who restated the importance of the occasion to celebrate the Federal Civil Service, stated it is aimed at recognising, rewarding and motivating officers within the Ministry of Information and Culture who have gone beyond their call of duty in carrying out their schedule of duties diligently.

The event is also aimed at tracking the performance of civil servants with a view to ensuring that they work effectively towards achieving the statutory mandates of their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, said Anyanwutaku.

She further noted that the success and future of Nigeria rests squarely on the quality of the Civil Service it has.

The top government official urged the Service to do everything reasonable to encourage Civil Servants to put in their best to ensure an efficient, purposeful, incorruptible, citizen-centered Civil Service that will live up to expectations in its delivery of government plans, policies and programmes.

Earlier, Mrs. Marian Nwokocha, Director of Human Resource Management, said that the Public Service remains the most potent and viable instrument available all over Africa and beyond for the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes of Government.

It is, therefore, a call to Public servants to avail themselves opportunities that the Service provides, to develop their knowledge, capacities and competencies to carry out their duties and responsibilities optimally.

She further noted that the Ministry will be recognising and rewarding officers that have been diligent in their duties, and urged every officer on the need to be conscientious in their responsibilities and desire to be the best.
