Hyundai recalls 215,171 Sonata vehicles over crack, leakage in fuel hose

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Hyundai Motor America is recalling 215,171 model year 2013-2014 Sonatas that were recalled in early 2020.

The automobile manufacturer said the ‘low-pressure fuel hose’ that connects the low-pressure fuel pump to the direct injection fuel pump may crack over time due to heat generated within the engine compartment.

Hyundai also noted that a cracked fuel hose may leak fuel, which can increase the risk of a fire.

In regard to what to do in rectifying the error, the company stated that dealers would replace the low-pressure fuel hose free of charge.

Vehicles repaired under the earlier recall that did not receive a replacement fuel hose will need to have this new remedy performed.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 5, 2022.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Hyundai Customer Service on 1-855-371-9460, and Hyundai’s number for this recall is 227.
