Sanwo-Olu directs investigation into mob attack on journalists in Tinubu’s convoy in Lagos

*Lagos State Governor says the state government condemns the incident, as it holds the media in high esteem, ensuring they have a conducive environment to perform their duties

Sequel to the physical attack visited on a bus conveying media professionals in the convoy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC Presidential Candidate, Sunday, June 19, 2022, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has ordered an investigation into the incident.

Recall the incident occurred between Ebute-Ero and Adeniji, Iga-Iduganran, after Asiwaju Tinubu’s visit to the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also  directed those involved must be fished out and made to face the law.

Meanwhile, the governor has stated the Lagos State Government will foot the hospital bills of those injured in Sunday’s incident.

“Lagos State Government condemns the incident. We hold the media in high esteem and the government has always ensured that they have a conducive environment to perform their duties.

“Nobody or group will be allowed to destroy our cordial relationship with the media. Lagos has no room for hooligans,” said Sanwo-Olu.

Lagosians had welcomed Tinubu the state, after his victory in the party’s Special Convention in Abuja, FCT, into Lagos on Sunday amid a huge convoy and cheers from supporters.
