Governor approves upgrade of 7 PHCs to General Hospitals in Yobe

*The Yobe State Government of Nigeria announces the new General Hospitals will be managed by the Hospitals Management Board

In the administration’s effort improving the healthcare services and its policy of a general hospital in every local government, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved the upgrade of seven Primary Health Care Centres to the status of General Hospitals.

These include those of Machina, Malam Baba in Nguru, Yusufari, Jajimaji, Babbangida, Bara and Buni Gari, report said.

The development is contained in a letter with reference number MOH/GEN/677/VJ, written by the Secretary to the Health Commissioner in Damaturu, the state capital.

The letter reads: “I am pleased to convey the approval of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni for the upgrading of some Primary Healthcare Centers to the status of General Hospitals in line with the present administration’s efforts to improve the healthcare services of the state and the government’s policy of one general hospital in every local government headquarters.”

It stated: “The new General Hospitals will now be managed by the Hospitals Management Board.”
