*Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State of Nigeria has dissolved the State Executive Council, and directed members to hand over to the most senior officers in their respective ministries

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has dissolved the State Executive Council.

ConsumerConnect reports Mr. Kelvin Ebiri, Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, in a statement issued Tuesday, May 24, 2022, said Governor Wike also relieved his Chief of Staff,  Emeka Woke, and Harold Koko, Senior Special Assistant (Protocol), of their appointments.

Wike as well instructed all the former members of the State Executive Council to hand over to the most senior officers in their respective ministries.

The statement noted: “His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, commends the members the Rivers State Executive Council for their service and contribution to the development of the state.

“He has also wished them the best in all their future endeavours.”

It was gathered the rationale for the latest development by the governor is yet to be ascertained, sources in Government House, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, however, said that the governor planned to bring fresh hands onboard the Rivers State Executive Council ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

Besides, it is also suggested the decision would allow some Executive members who plan to contest the governorship seat and other positions the chance to move on.
